Psychosynthesis: Towards a Sacred Psychology of Becoming

My postgraduate research explored the Psychosynthesis psychotherapeutic framework as a model for psychospiritual development, examining how it may be informed and enriched through dialogical engagement with Tasawwuf – the inner, experiential science of Islam. Grounded in a shared commitment to the unfolding of consciousness through the will, love and responsibility, it considers the points of resonance and tension between Psychosynthesis and metaphysical aspects of Islam, with particular attention to the nature of the Self, the catalytic dynamic of Other and the transformative potential of encounter.

At the heart of this research is an exploration of the transformative potential of human encounter: how our relationships, inner experiences and engagement with life's deeper questions can awaken new awareness, deepen our understanding of ourselves and support psychological and spiritual growth.

The research reflects my wider interest in psychotherapy as a process that embraces not only psychological healing, but also the deeper questions of identity, purpose, relationship and human potential, and what it means to become authentically oneself in recognition of, and surrender to, the Divine.
